What are the benefits of consultations?

Customized conversations. Whether you’re looking for tips to start an inclusion initiative or accountability to help you stay on track with your bias-interruption strategies, tailored sessions maximize the relevance and specificity of the solutions you’ll discuss. Sessions are also personalized to the communication style that is most productive for you.

External perspective. Discussions outside your immediate network can reduce conflict of interest, encourage new ways of thinking, and provide a safe space to share unique ideas.

Flexible solution implementation. Consultations provide support for work that you lead. In our sessions, you’ll ask questions, get feedback on ideas, discuss strategies to overcome challenges related to your inclusion work, and explore growth opportunities. Then, you have the freedom to decide how you want to apply those concepts in your projects.

If you’re looking for a deeper level of involvement and formal deliverables such as written reports and recommendations, check out my assessment and action plan services.

Why work with me?

I support individuals and teams in academia, science, and research as well as anyone interested in exploring a neuroscience approach to inclusion.

I hold a PhD in neuroscience, and have worked on a wide variety of research projects investigating brain structure in dancers, how music training influences the aging brain, quality of life in children with chronic illness, and assessments for children with neurological conditions. I’ve spent over 12 years in a university setting including experience as a graduate researcher, skills development facilitator, administrative staff member, leader of a science communication nonprofit, and inclusion professional. This range of experience allows me to hold the perspective of many different roles in academia and research environments, and to share neuroscience in an application-focused manner.

We’re likely a good match if you’re interested in one or more of the following:

  • Embracing cognitive diversity and creating spaces where all types of thinkers can thrive.

  • Reducing your bias using neuroscience-based strategies.

  • Building an inclusive environment with your lab or research team.

  • Integrating inclusion and accessibility in your research design and science communication.

  • Developing inclusive and engaging classes, training activities, and conferences.

  • Growing the results of your inclusion initiatives using neuroscience.
